Team Players: A Game Kit For Exploring Team Player Styles
This game kit was developed for use in conjunction with the Parker Team Player Survey and the book, Team Players and Teamwork. It is based on my four team player styles that were first presented in the book and later served as the basis for the Survey. This kit is the result of another collaboration with Thiagi.
Team Players Game Kit is a collection of two board games, eight card games, and a classification game that explores four team player styles. By playing the games, you become fluent with the four different team player styles and facts and strategies associated with each style.
The purpose of these games is to identify the characteristics, attitudes, behaviors, strengths, weaknesses, preferences, feelings, perceptions, expectations, problems and benefits associated with the four team player styles. I use the games after people have completed the Survey and been introduced, via a lecturette, to the four styles. The games are a high-energy method of reinforcing the four styles because knowledge of the various aspects of the styles helps you "win" the game. It can be played with 2 to 16 players. With a group of 16 participants, I play four teams of four people each.
The Team Players Game Kit includes a deck of cards and a game board. Eight games are played with just the deck of cards: TEAM TIME, TWO-MINUTE SPRINT, CARD SETS, AUDIO SLAPJACK, I DOUBT IT, MATCH, TEN TRICKS, and ROUND AND ROUND. All these games increase the players' fluency with the four team player styles. In one of the board games, the die is thrown before each deal to select a team player style for the deal. During the deal, you receive 10 cards. You study your cards and pick out those which belong to the selected team player style. Then you present one of the selected cards, throw a die, and move your game piece forward on the game board. If anyone objects to your card, you talk it over with the "objector." If neither can persuade the other, check the Feedback Table for the official answer. If you are right the objector moves back two spaces. You throw the die and move forward. If you are wrong, you move back two spaces. The objector throws the die and moves forward. There are Chance cards that add excitement to the game. When you pick a Chance card, you may move forward or move someone else's piece back. The first player to reach Finish on the game board wins the game.
The game box includes:
- Game Board
- Game Cards
- Chance Cards

The game was pilot tested with groups of training professionals and client teams who suggested revisions that have been incorporated in the game structure.
