Team Workout is a natural extension of our best-selling book, 50 Activities for Team Building, Volume 1, published by HRD Press in 1992. Selected by Human Resource Executive magazine as one of the Top Ten Training Tools of 1992, the book went on to be one of HRD Press's most successful publications and still enjoys wide popularity. In this handy, paper bound edition we have revised a few of the activities and added user friendly graphics resulting in an attractive, lower cost publication.

In the interim, the business world changed dramatically, as did our knowledge of teams in the workplace. New demands on organizations and new challenges for facilitators, team-building consultants and managers have combined to create a need for new activities and extensive revisions of classic exercises that address the current reality. The new reality includes the globalization of teams, the wide availability of electronic communication methods, new demands of customers, expansion of teamwork into new areas of business, emphasis on rewards and recognition for teams and constant change as the norm.

Team Workout is a unique combination of new activities that focus on such current team issues as virtual teams, trust building, change management, customer satisfaction and respect as well as refreshed versions of classic assessment tools and icebreakers that address issues such as ethics, consensus building, meetings management and problem-solving. All of the exercises have tested and used many times with our clients and students.

For each activity we provide the user with a description of the purpose, group size, time, physical setting, materials, process steps, debriefing questions and variations. All required handouts are provided in a format suitable for photocopying and many activities also include lecture notes and worksheets. The 8½ by 11" format makes it easy to reproduce the materials for training programs.
