Team Training: Typical Assignments

  • Kimberly-Clark Corporation. A customized version of Skills and Techniques for Successful Cross-Functional Teamwork for several new product development teams in the feminine care business. The assignment also included feedback and coaching sessions with team leaders.
  • Ann Taylor, Inc. A custom version of How to Build Strong Teams and Develop Team Players was conducted for strategy team leaders. Another customized course was run for a group of senior managers who serve both as team leaders and sponsors. The latter course also involved an in-class team assessment and action planning exercise.
  • St. Rita's Medical Center. More than 30 hospital staff members participated in three sessions of Building a Facilitator's Toolkit. The participants were trained to lead a variety of reengineering teams.
  • Promus Hotel Corporation. More than 20 vice presidents and senior managers in the company's leadership institute participated in a tailored version of How to Build Strong Teams and Develop Team Players. The course design included the completion of the Parker Team Player Survey with peer feedback prior to the session. The results were distributed during the session and served as a springboard for the development of a personal development plan for each participant.
  • Siemens/ROLM Communications. A custom version of Skills and Techniques for Successful Cross-Functional Teamwork was run for several new product development teams. Prior to the program, team members completed our Survey of Cross-Functional Teamwork and a data summary was analyzed during the class. Internal staff subsequently took over the program and continued to use it with other teams.
  • Bristol-Myers Squibb. A blended solution was implemented to support the development of project teams in the pharmaceutical research area. A two-day classroom instruction program for team leaders focused on topics such as leadership styles, open communication, and decision-making. A web-based course called Being a Team Player was offered to project team members.
  • United States Coast Guard. Using data from a needs assessment (interviews, meeting observation, review of documents), I designed and implemented a series of two day workshops for Integrated Product Teams involved in Deepwater, a major project aimed at transforming all the major assets of the CG.
  • Dermik Laboratories. This on-going project is a multi-faceted, coordinated series of interventions that includes a two-day workshop for team leaders, a companion one-day program for team members, targeted workshops for leaders on facilitation skills and meeting management and a seminar for the senior management leadership team. The programs included individual and team assessements that provide the basis for on-going assessment and follow-up coaching.
